Motorway Over Height Detection System not operating during upgrade

Improvements are being made to the system that helps prevent bridge strikes on Auckland’s motorway network and the current system won’t be operating during the upgrade.
The NZ Transport Agency is upgrading and relocating the Over Height Detection System, which notifies drivers if they are travelling in an over-height vehicle.
The improved system will notify drivers if they are over-height at a point on the motorway that gives them an opportunity to take an alternative route rather than having to pull over as they currently do.
