Completion date approaching for SH6 Blenheim to Renwick roundabout
The final stage of construction for the roundabout at the State Highway 6/Bells and St Leonards Road intersection is about to begin.
Work on the project has been underway since January. During the first three stages, contractors built new drains, installed new streetlights and utilities, and laid around 4,500m2 of pavement and road surfacing.
That’s as well as building the new roundabout, which will make it much easier and safer for drivers to get through the intersection.
The final stage is due to start on Friday, 10 May. Planned work includes landscaping, road surfacing, line marking and signage.
State Highway 6 will be open in both directions with a temporary speed limit of 30 km/h during this stage.
The intersection of State Highway 6 and St Leonards Road will be CLOSED. Residents will need to continue to use a detour.
People living on St Leonards Road who want to travel to Blenheim will need to go up Old Renwick Road and follow the detour to Colemans Road.
Those heading to Renwick/Nelson must go via Jacksons Road.
Cyclists will be able to travel with care through the site.

Second day of Stop/Go day works planned for State Highway 6 Wairau River Bridge
Marlborough residents and regular users of State Highway 6 between Blenheim and Nelson must remember to add extra travel time to their journeys when heading through Renwick this Sunday (5 May).
Stop/go traffic lights will be in place between 7 am and 6 pm when contractors will complete maintenance work on the Wairau River Bridge’s abutments and connections.
Drivers can expect delays of up to 15 minutes.
Drivers, particularly those with Picton ferry connections, should plan ahead and allow extra time for their travel.
Dunedin detour for major culvert replacement, SH1 Braeside Dunedin’s Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound drivers will face a detour between East Taieri and Kinmont Park (Mosgiel interchange) from Monday 6 May. The entire project is expected to take up to eight weeks, with the detour running for the first month, 6 May to 3 June. The detour will be in place seven days a week, 24 hours a day as the worksite will take up half the road-width. Given this is the main route to the airport at Momona, people need to build in a few extra minutes if they are heading towards the airport from Dunedin. The detour map:
“Road users should expect delays, especially northbound drivers rejoining SH87 at the controlled intersection where there will be periods of congestion, Airport-bound people also need to build in extra time as they head south. |
