Adam Norman

Adam Norman joined the family business, Normans Transport, after leaving school aged 15. As a kid Adam spent hours in his Dad’s Volvo F12 and reckons the brown upholstery is completely ingrained in his brain. After working on his HT licence from age 19 he spent time working throughout the whole business – from the workshop floor being the gopher, to servicing and repairing trucks, and changing tyres. After earning his stripes in the workshop, Adam moved into the warehousing, then dispatch, and eventually along with his wife Renee got the opportunity to become a shareholder in the business and take on the role of General Manager.

Adam believes the transport industry is full of pretty savvy businesspeople, who are solutions focused and innovative, and despite public perception, running a transport company is no small feat. Those in the industry will know there are often a lot of small numbers and moving parts that need to be coordinated to align to ensure success. Success relies on having your finger on the pulse, all the time.

Being part of the Board of NRC opens doors for me to learn, be challenged and hopefully reciprocate this with others. Some of the challenges we face today are not new, but we can’t discount the fact different headwinds are coming our way, and being able to contribute to the voice of the industry and help with the solutions is an opportunity I couldn’t walk away from.

Adam and Renee have three girls aged 6 and 4 with number 3 newly arrived in October 2023. Renee runs an online fitness business called She Moves specifically designed to support specifically designed for pre- and post-natal women to safely return to exercise. We are both into exercise, and I really enjoy running as it’s a great counterbalance to time spent sitting in the office. I’m a big believer in exercise to support all aspects of your health.
