KiwiRail Earthquake update 4

Status update 16 November


Great progress has been made over the past 48 hours getting rail and ferry operations back to full speed to support our customers.

All North Island services are running despite minor slips around Wellington this morning.

Blenheim CT site
We are now delivering South Island rail to our Container Transfer (CT) site at Blenheim for devanning or transhipment to road.
Our customer contact team are working with individual customers as necessary to assist them uplift their freight from Blenheim CT.

Main North Line
We have set up coordination centres in Christchurch and Wellington to work with the New Zealand Transport Agency and ensure alignment on damage assessment and subsequent repairs.

Ferry update and timetable
The ferries are now back to over 75% capacity on the Cook Strait and hope to be running full operations by the end of the week. We plan to have Aratere back in service early next week.
A temporary timetable remains in place until we have Aratere back in service.
